Matthew Moss High School Class of 2000 – Dr Nasra Noreem Alam

Dr Nasra Noreem Alam – Colorectal Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary
We are celebrating the wonderful achievements of Nasra Noreem Alam, a former Matthew Moss learner and current Colorectal Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Thriving at Matthew Moss
Nasra looked back on her time as a student at Matthew Moss with fond memories of the teachers who supported her there.
In particular, she highlighted Mr Varley, her Head of Year and science teacher, Mrs Ellis, her English teacher and Mr Raymer, Headteacher at the time.
The teachers were very supportive and encouraging. They helped me select the appropriate A Levels to achieve my goals.
Pursuing Excellence at Oxford

After leaving Matthew Moss in 2000, Nasra went on to study for her A-Levels at Oldham Sixth Form College.
From there, she was accepted to study Medical Sciences at Jesus College at the prestigious University of Oxford.

With a passion for medicine firmly instilled, Nasra continued her studies further at the University of Southampton where she studied Medicine and graduated as a doctor in 2009.
A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
After seven years of working as a doctor, Nasra took time out of her medical training to return to education.
She completed a PhD at the University of Manchester, graduating for the third time in 2016.

Currently, Nasra works as a Colorectal Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
