Sports Centre

Matthew Moss Sports Centre is a venue with great facilities.

Providing the opportunity for sports clubs and private bookings alike, to train in a clean, safe and friendly environment.

Summer rates: 1st May to 30th September

Winter rates: 1st October to 30th April

Each session is 55 minutes long to allow for change over of activities/equipment where required.

Please note: The sports hall will be unavailable during exam and mock seasons.

Indoor Facilities

We are proud of our sporting provision here at Matthew Moss High School.  The Sports Hall was built to provide excellent facilities for our students and the community.

Matthew Moss learners have ample opportunity to participate in a wide range of sport and physical activity.  Our sporting teams are excellent ambassadors for the School.

This superb multi-purpose Sports Hall provides you with the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities ranging from; Badminton, Basketball Netball, Cricket UniHock and Lacrosse.  The size of the hall easily lends itself and plays host to major competitions and special events, such as Rochdale Gymnastics Competition and other local sporting competitions and tournaments.

Outdoor Facilities

The superb multi-purpose Astroturf offers a variety of activities and provides an excellent playing surface for 11 a side football, 7 a side football, Hockey, Lacrosse and Rugby.  The facility is ideal for training sessions as well as competitive fixtures, with local sporting competitions and tournaments being hosted here.

The Astroturf is build to standard specifications and maintained equipment.  It is designed for user comfort and flexibility featuring:

• High quality third generation synthetic turf (3G)
• 3 seven a side football pitches
• 1 hockey pitch
• 1 eleven a side football pitch
• Disabled access
• Floodlit

The 2 grass pitches are kept in excellent condition throughout the season and we can accommodate 2 junior teams on our junior pitch and 2 senior teams on our larger pitch.  Facilities and equipment associated with the grass pitches include:

• Excellent drainage
• Nets for goals that stay up all season long
• Pitches are maintained throughout the year
• Changing rooms and toilets
• Corner flags

Bridge Junior Football Club

Bridge FC have achieved FA Charter Standard at Development level.  

Currently they are running 22 teams at 11 Age groups – ranging from Under 6’s up to Under 17’s for boys and girls.

Rochdale Juniors Netball Club

Rochdale Junior Netball have squads ranging from Under 9’s to Under 16’s, in addition to development squads for ages 8, 9, 10, 11’s.

 Rochdale Lacrosse Club

Rochdale Lacrosse train every Monday evening in the Sports Hall, All players welcome.

Ages 8-12 – 6.00pm-7.00pm

Ages 13-15 – 7.00pm-8.00pm

Ages 16+ – 8.00pm-9.00pm

Springfield Park Junior Football Club

Based at Springfield Park, Rochdale, the club was formed in 2014. As an England Accredited Club, they always strive to provide the best experience for children, with fully qualified coaches across all their teams.

All teams are now fully based in Springfield Park with winter training based at Matthew Moss High School. They have teams from U7 to U18 to U12. They play matches in the Heywood Sports Village Mini Soccer League on a Sunday with older teams entered into the East Manchester Junior Football League on a Sunday or North Bury Junior Football League playing games on a Saturday.
