The Performing Arts Tech Award gives learners at Key Stage 4 the opportunity to study a vocational subject as part of their curriculum. This particular offer at MMHS gives more choice and engagement and opportunities for enrichment. The specification and requirements engage and prepare learners for either academic or vocational progression post-16. It will give our learners the opportunity to build skills that show an aptitude for further learning, both in the PA sector and more widely, building skills and motivating learners to engage fully with challenging study.

At MMHS, Performing Arts  must enable learners to:

  • develop key skills that prove their aptitude in Performing Arts such as reproducing repertoire or responding to stimuli;
  • understand the processes that underpin effective ways of working in the Performing Arts, such as development of ideas, rehearsal and theatre in performance;
  • develop attitudes that are considered most important in the Performing Arts, including personal management and communication;
  • build knowledge that underpins effective use of skills, process and attitudes in the sector such as roles, responsibilities, performance disciplines and styles in Performing Arts;
  • broaden their experience and skills participation in different types of performance activities with the opportunity to practically apply knowledge and skills, through project work, such as developing ideas and performing for specific audiences;
  • build Cultural Capital and broaden their opportunities for enrichment through theatre visits and performance, enhancing our curriculum.
