Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Overview

Our curriculum approach, like all things at Matthew Moss High School, is learner-centred.

Our aim is to ensure that learners have an appropriate and ambitious curriculum which empowers young people for a life of learning both satisfying to themselves and of significant value to society.

What does our curriculum look like?

We provide our learners with a rich diet of academic and wider knowledge and an experience aligned with our engage CHANGE offer:

Composure – We remain effective under pressure.

High Standards – We expect much from ourselves and others.

Agency – We know how to learn and make things happen.

Numeracy & Literacy – We master our use of numbers and words.

Growth Mindset – We learn to succeed through practice.

Empathy – We care about others as well as ourselves.

The curriculum includes all the requirements of the National Curriculum and contains additional opportunities to engage learners in the wider pursuit of enrichment opportunities. Through its design, the curriculum seeks to equip pupils with the intellectual, cultural, and emotional means for life beyond school, meaning they truly learn for life.

How inclusive is our curriculum?

Our curriculum is underpinned by high expectations for all students and ensures a personalised approach to ensure any barriers to learning are removed. Our approach to the curriculum and how we comply with our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014  can be found in our curriculum policy,  on our centralised policies page.
