Strong Performance Maintained at Matthew Moss

Despite the most difficult year imaginable, students and staff at Matthew Moss High School are again celebrating an excellent crop of GCSE results.

A fifth of all grades have been achieved in the top band of 7 to 9 and learners continue to perform most strongly across the EBacc subjects. In English, Science and Mathematics 70% of learners achieved at least a Grade 4, with performance in RE especially impressive, almost a third of learners achieving top band grades.

Moreover, the strong showing across the board resulted in 18 learners at Matthew Moss achieving the highest Grade 9 in at least one subject. Notable individual performances include Hassan Irshad, who made outstanding progress; Fawaaz Hussain (five Grade 9s); Hamza Yasin (four Grade 9s); Zenib Shahid (three Grade 9s and four Grade 8s); and Marium Ashfaq (two Grade 9s and six Grade 8s).

Great results like these are always the result of the combined efforts of staff, learners, parents and carers and never more so than this year, when everyone has had to pull together under such difficult circumstances. These fantastic results are a testament to the whole community and its commitment to supporting our young people with such dedication and fortitude. Collectively, we did our job and we should be very proud of our achievements.
