Zen Internet Trip

Zen Internet Trip

Today 30 of our learners went to the award winning Zen Internet Company, to discover more about the company and encourage our female learners to look into IT and Technology; something Zen themselves are eager to promote.

The trip started with an introduction from our hosts: Sarah, Laura and Sam. They spoke about the company, its history and what it provides to customers. Learners asked questions such as “Who do you provide internet for?”, “What separates you from other companies?” and “How do you get the internet on buses and trains?”

The introduction was followed by a talk about information security, held by the IT team at Zen. Who covered topics such as phishing, ransomware attacks, supply chain attacks and being aware of the primary threats facing the IT team.

After a short break, Zen brought out a small panel of female employees from different sectors of the company (sales, order management, solution architecture and system development) who talked about what it was like working for the company as a woman, where they started and what they’ve accomplished.

Our learners were then given a tour of the premises. They saw the layout of the offices, were told about what the different areas did and saw the daily goings on at Zen.

The final part of the trip had our learners receive an informative talk on job interview prep before demonstrating their knowledge by observing a staged interview between two Zen Employees and accurately pointing out things like: poor posture, a lack of research, being late with no reason and informal attire.

By the end of the trip, our learners had a fun and engaging time and represented Matthew Moss excellently.

Thank you so much to the team at Zen for inspiring our female learners and for making everyone feel so welcome.
