Palaeontological Discoveries at Ancient History Club!
Our Ancient History Club recently received a special guest speaker, our very own Dr David Penny!
A former Honorary Lecturer in the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Manchester, Dr. Penney’s research focused on extant and fossilised spiders and insects.
Ancient History Club were fascinated by Dr. Penney’s insights into the field of Palaeontology and were even more impressed when they could get their hands on his personal collection of fossils!
Many of us were very disappointed when he debunked the popular ‘Jurassic Park’ theory of extracting dinosaur DNA from mosquitoes trapped in amber.
Even with this bitter disappointment, learners were blown away by how extensive the history of life on our planet truly is and were thrilled for the opportunity to be able to physically reach out and touch the past.
