Hussam’s Journey to Thriving in a New Country, New School and New Career

Hussam Al-Baali – 2nd Line Support Advisor

We are celebrating the wonderful achievements of Hussam Al-Baali, a former Matthew Moss learner and current 2nd Line Support Advisor.

A Warm Welcome

Hussam highlighted the wonderful teachers at Matthew Moss who helped him through the transition of starting a new school in a new country.

Mrs Chricton-Allen, Mr Moorhouse and Mr Glennie were incredibly influential people in my life who constantly supported me and assured me even at my worst points.

As an immigrant, Hussam was faced with settling in the UK, starting school and learning a brand new curriculum.

It was not easy as an immigrant to assimilate in a new country, new school and a new curriculum. They did an incredible job at making me feel like this is my home.

Achieving and Thriving

After completing his GCSEs, Hussam progressed to college where he studied for his A Levels. Hussam then went on to complete an apprenticeship where he excelled.

It was easily the best decision I have made so far. I realised I do far better in practical work environments than academic ones.

Hussam’s career has gone from strength to strength, from completing his Level 3 Business Administration course to being promoted from front line support to 2nd line support.

It was a huge promotion and one that I am very proud of.
