Great War Workshops
Great War Workshops visited Matthew Moss High School last year and provided an amazing session with our students. So good in-fact, we invited them back!
On Thursday 30th September and Friday 1st October, all Year 8 learners took part in a hands-on World War One Workshop which gave them a unique opportunity to learn about local stories of Rochdale during World War One.
The Humanities Department would like to send huge thanks to Bill from Great War Workshops who immersed our students with his stories and expert knowledge. His session encouraged exploration and allowed our students to closely examine real life war artefacts rather than viewing them in a display case. As a result, learners could get a hands-on experience of the history of real people from our local area and some lucky learners even got the opportunity to dress up as local soldiers from Heywood including Jack Booth, Cyril Hartington and Norman Chatburn.

The experience was organised for learners to enhance their current learning experience of looking at World War One in Humanities classrooms as part of the Year 8 Humanities curriculum.
