Going for Gold! For now…
Matthew Moss has been awarded a Gold certificate from the School Games Mark!
The purpose of School Games Mark remains constant.
To reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active.
The 5 areas they have assessed is how successful we have been in the following areas:
1. Maintaining and growing our school’s engagement in the School Games and the delivery of 60 active minutes for every child. Support for every child in improvements in their physical literacy, social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
2. Creating positive experiences to ensure physical activity and competition provision is designed to reflect the motivation, competence and confidence of our young people and has a clear intent. In doing this we provide opportunities for learners to prepare and practice for inter-school competitions!
3. A clear focus on particular transition points (Yr.3 and Yr.7/8 as well as those in 3 tier systems) and how we are engaging in the School Games.
4. We have a formal structure in creating positive experiences that support the character development of our young people. This includes opportunities across the full breadth of the School Games, which incorporates the delivery of high quality, inclusive leadership and volunteering.
5. Advocated to key stakeholders how the School Games makes a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people, including engaging and
educating their parents. Participation in physical activity and competition will impact on young people’s physical, emotional, and social
wellbeing and influence the likelihood of continued engagement both at school and in the community, creating habits for life.
We are very proud to have achieved this certificate and over the next 4 years, we will be aiming to achieve the “Platinum” mark!
