Girls in STEM Career Event
Mrs Martin from our Careers department organised a Girls in STEM event for our Year 10 learners.
Over 35 successful women from both local and regional businesses and academia kindly came into school for the event. Their roles included: Colour Chemists, Optician , Civil Engineer, Architect, Estate Agents, Microbiologist, IT And Software engineers, Cancer Research Scientists and Researchers from Manchester University
I wanted the event to inspire our learners to consider careers that they may not have previously considered and also realise that regardless of gender everyone can play a significant role within the workplace.

Thank-you for organising the event, it was fantastic and great to have so many engaging conversations with the young women. Everyone I spoke to was polite, chatty and engaged in the discussion – lot’s of aspiring career paths in the making I hope!
