Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition
A group of our Learners recently took part and completed their bronze expedition on the 29th and 30th of September, with an overnight camp between days. They walked with their full kit (that weighed about 10 – 15KG) for two days; 12km on the first day and 12km on the second day.
They were completely self-sufficient, pitched their tents when they arrived at the campsite (Ashworth Valley Scout Camp) and cooked their own tea using a gas cooker and stove. They navigated in groups of 7 using an Ordnance Survey map and all groups managed to navigate back to school in very rainy conditions. They have all been working hard in after school sessions to gain the skills they need to complete the two days walk and camp such as setting up tents, cooking, first aid and map reading.
They showed true grit and determination and were a credit to themselves and the school.
