Connections Recognised in National Report for Effective Alternative Provision

Connections Recognised in National Report for Effective Alternative Provision

We are delighted to say that our alternative provision, Connections, has been featured in the ‘What works: Four Tenets of Effective Internal Alternative Provision’ report, authored by educational charity The Difference

Connections has been nationally recognised amongst three other case studies for its nurturing approach, targeted support and balance between academic progress and wellbeing.

The report highlights the positive impact of connections on Matthew Moss learners, including the improved attendance rates of attendees.

Attendance rates often improve dramatically as a result of a Connections placement and reintegration rates are high and sustained. Anna’s attendance was 59% before joining Connections. It is now 93%

It also praises the effectiveness of the provision in reintegrating learners back into the school community and the varied curriculum on offer, including outdoor learning, vocational courses and GCSE option subjects.

We are proud to have been identified as an example of sector-leading practice in this report and to be standing alongside other excellent examples of internal alternative provision.
