At the Watergrove Trust we value staff development and proudly employ apprentices year after year.
National Apprenticeship Week is a brilliant time to celebrate success and what better way to do so than speak about the achievements of 3 members of team.
Rich studied electronics at Bolton Sixth Form before enrolling on an apprenticeship with Bury College. His placement was at Matthew Moss High School where he was employed as a Junior IT Technician. Fast forward to today and Rich is now the IT Manager at MMHS!
“If you decide to enter an apprenticeship and you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t forget that even those at the top of their respective industries had to start somewhere and many of them were just like you at the start of their careers.”
Rich’s advice to budding apprentices.
Ethen signed up for an apprenticeship with Oldham College as an Infrastructure Communication Technician. He was placed at Matthew Moss High School where he is an IT Apprentice with Rich as his Mentor.
“My apprenticeship has given me plenty of practical experience, and it has also provided me with a wealth of insight and detail of the role.”

Marcus is currently doing an apprenticeship in Digital Marketing, with a focus on social media provided by Impact Futures. Marcus manages projects from Wardle Academy and Matthew Moss. He takes photos of events, organises social media posts and creates posters and videos.
“Doing an Apprenticeship is a great opportunity to get some genuine real-life work experience and even earn some qualifications. If a college doesn’t sound very appealing, maybe give an apprenticeship a go.”
