Well done Aaminah.

They entangled around the pillar – a clear eruption of lime and dark green. Miniature in size and small acts of magic: so rare that the human eye could only see their elegance and beauty once in their entire lifetime. Clusters of vines, khaki, cerulean and vermillion, danced their way towards the sunlight, only to learn they were blocked by warmth by a single transparent window. The vines weren’t exactly emerald, but not far from it. They were intriguing little plants, they seemed handmade; flawlessly crafted and the epitome of royal. Stretched out and large in number, they lay silent and lazy, looking as fragile as Cinderella’s glass slippers, but in reality, as strong as the wand used to craft them. Shining little beauties. Gems glittering like diamonds in the desert. And as Summer turned to Autumn, and Autumn into Winter and Winter turned into long, restless, frost-bitten nights, the vines remained beautiful.

The door was made out of a strong metal. It was cold to the touch, as if its icy bars were to keep unwanted creatures away. You would expect it to be worn down and broken with no astonishing strength needed, but it was remarkably sturdy, despite the rust growing up it. There was something very magical about it, and with the help of the bars surrounding the open space around it, the door seemed to welcome you in rather than keep you out. The whole style of it was quite vintage; something straight out of a fairytale. One of those doors, where the main character would sit down by and start daydreaming , and for a split-second, all the time in the world stopped. It wasn’t gold, nor bronze, but a colour most people remembered but couldn’t explain what it was. If you imagined a single pound coin and made the colour about two times lighter and take away the glossy gleam it has, that is probably the closest you could get to thinking of it. The door of two worlds: an elegant outside, and a dark, yet royal, mystery waiting at the place where the eye can’t look past.
