School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)
What is the SCITT training route?
SCITT stands for School Centred Initial Teacher Training.
Schools are taking more control of Initial Teacher Training. With the school-led programme, you will spend more time based in schools and classrooms than you would on a traditional PGCE course. All training is delivered by current outstanding practitioners from within our Alliance and is wholly school-based.
Trainees complete the training with many more hours classroom experience than those who have followed a university-led route, leaving them more confident and skilled as they embark on their NQT year.
The Pioneers Partnership is a SCITT, providing both the salaried and non-salaried training routes into teaching. Our vision is that every child in Rochdale has the opportunity to attend an Outstanding School and we provide high quality and personalised training to graduates to support this. You will complete training after one year with Qualified Teacher Status and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
